Vol. 73 No. 1

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 1, 2 and 3. No. 1 will be taken, with the permission of the House, sooner than the time provided.

Is it proposed to sit tomorrow?

Could Senator Ó Maoláin give an indication of the business to be taken tomorrow?

Yes. It is proposed to take Nos. 4 and 9 on the Order Paper.

In that order?

I am sure the House would not agree to the proposal that No. 1 be taken notwithstanding Standing Orders. This is the second Local Government Bill which has been brought before this House at short notice in recent times. I believe we ought to have the courtesy extended to us of having Bills from this Department brought before us in the usual manner.

Is it agreed to take the Local Elections Bill, 1972, in spite of the three days, required by Standing Orders, not having elapsed?

Agreed and ordered accordingly.
