Vol. 101 No. 8

Business of Seanad.

Might I ask the Leader of the House what is the intended Order of Business for the morning?

We intend to take the Turf Development Bill, 1983, the Tourist Traffic Bill, 1983, the Fianna Fáil Motion and then the Fisheries (Amendment) Bill, 1983, in that order. We would hope to have the co-operation of the Opposition with that Order of Business for the day. Tomorrow is fairly full anyway. That is the proposed Order of Business we will be announcing in the morning, if that is agreed.

If the first two Bills are dealt with reasonably expeditiously could we not take the Fisheries (Amendment) Bill, 1983 before the motion? I understand the motion is ordered for 5 o'clock if it is being taken.

There is a problem in that the Minister who wants to take the Fisheries (Amendment) Bill is still in Brussels discussing fisheries. We just want to make sure that the Opposition have their time allocated properly. Certainly we will continue after their motion and deal with the Fisheries Bill.

Does this mean that we are not ordering the motion to be taken at 5 o'clock?

We are ordering it.

Is it the intention that, if the Turf Development Bill and the Tourist Traffic Bill are concluded, we will adjourn, which would seem to be ridiculous?

I am delighted to hear the Senator being so optimistic.

To put things into perspective, irrespective of whether the Minister is back, is it the intention that the Fisheries (Amendment) Bill will be taken?

That is correct.

After the first two Bills if there is time available?

That is what we would hope to do. We may not have the Minister but we will have a Minister to handle it.

Is that agreed?

Agreed.

At what time will the House adjourn this evening?

It is a matter entirely for the House.

I thought it was to be at 8.30 and it is now almost 8.30 p.m.

Does the House wish to adjourn at 8.30 p.m.?

I think the agreement was that we finish the next item this evening. I do not think there is any speaker offering from this side.
