Vol. 117 No. 6

Death of Former Oireachtas Member. - Business of Seanad.

As it is now 6.30 p.m. and it was agreed on the Order of Business today to adjourn this legislation at 6.30 p.m., would the Deputy Leader of the House indicate to me when we might take this legislation again?

This Bill has run on today. We thought we would finish Committee Stage but we are a long way from that at the moment. We had intended to take the Oil Pollution of the Sea (Civil Liability and Compensation) Bill tomorrow morning but I have now decided to continue with this Bill and try to get Committee Stage completed tomorrow.

You have heard what the Deputy Leader of the House has said. Is that agreed?

I see the logic in the point and I do not have a personal objection to it but I believe people may have looked forward to discussing the Companies (No. 2) Bill in the morning. I do not have a particular objection to it but it might create problems for people who had intended to speak tomorrow morning.

It was not intended to take the Companies (No. 2) Bill tomorrow morning. Perhaps we may be able to do so tomorrow afternoon. That was the intention all the time.

We will resume on the Customs and Excise (Miscellaneous Provisions) at 10.30 a.m. tomorrow.

We will then proceed to the Companies (No. 2) Bill? Is that the intended format? The video nasties Bill will not be taken tomorrow.

Is there a particular time tomorrow when we will stop this and go on to the Companies (No. 2) Bill, or will we take this Bill to the finish tomorrow?
