Vol. 123 No. 11

Business of Seanad.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

I have notice from Senator Olga Bennett that on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today she proposes to raise the following matter:

In view of the urgency of the recurring smog problem, the need for the Minister for the Environment to introduce further urgent measures to meet the problem and, in the meantime, the further need for better communicators to be made available for an early warning system to allow people to take precautionary measures to minimise the problem.

I also received notice from Senator David Norris of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health in the light of the recent resignation of the Chairman of the Health Research Board, due to unexpected arbitrary budgetary constraints imposed in the Estimates, to look urgently at the possibility of providing further and adequate funding so that this important body can carry out its work in the national interest.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Bennett and Norris as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and I have selected the matter raised by Senator Bennett. It will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Norris may give notice on another day of the matter he wishes to raise.
