Seanad Éireann díospóireacht -
Wednesday, 21 Nov 1990

Vol. 126 No. 12

Business of Seanad.

Tá fógra agam ón Seanadóir Pól Ó Foighil:

Ba chóir d'Aire na Gaeltachta a mhíniú cén fáth nach raibh am aige plé a dhéanamh faoi Theilifís Ghaeltachta lena Aire Stáit Gaeltachta ó Mhí an Mheithimh go dtí Mí Dheireadh Fómhair na bliana seo.

I also received notice from Senator Patrick Kennedy of the following matter:

The relocation and development of St. Gabriel's school and clinic in Limerick for the physically handicapped on a site which has been acquired for this development joining St. Paul's school, Dooradoyle, and that the proposed development be part of the implementation of the overall plan for the provision of services for the physically handicapped in the area of the MidWestern Health Board.

I also received notice from Senator David Norris of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice to review the case of a prisoner in Arbour Hill (name supplied) with a view to exercising his ministerial prerogative of commuting the sentence in the light of its comparative severity taking into account the circumstances of the case.

I also received notice from Senator Avril Doyle of the following matter:

The disparity between the social welfare code and the income tax code in the treatment of share fishermen.

I also received notice from Senator Dan Neville of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice to address the serious escalation of crime in rural areas, and to make a statement on the matter.

I regard the matter raised by Senators Ó Foighil, Kennedy and Norris as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Ó Foighil's matter and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Kennedy and Norris may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.

I regret I have to rule the matters raised by Senators Neville and Doyle are not suitable for discussion on the Adjournment: Senator Neville's matter is too wide and is more suitable for discussion on a substantive motion and Senator Doyle's matter involves legislation.
