The need for the Minister for Education to extend higher education grants to the small minority of students, who, while not meeting formal academic requirements are admitted to third level institutions on the grounds of mature years.

The need for the Minister for Justice to authorise a public inquiry into the suicide of an 18 year old man in St. Patrick's Juvenile Institution, Mountjoy, and for a further inquiry into the high incidence of deaths in prisons in Ireland.

To ask the Minister for the Environment to make funds available to bodies of approved status for the annual maintenance of accommodation built under section 5 of the Housing Act, 1988.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Murphy, Costello, Ó Foighil and Hederman as suitable for discussion in this House. I have selected Senator Murphy's matter and it will be taken at the conclusion of business today.
