Vol. 127 No. 14

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Mary Jackman that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

To ask the Minister for Social Welfare to allocate part of the £500,000 provided in the 1991 budget for Women's Aid to the women's refuges, particularly Adapt House, in Limerick city.

I also received notice from Seantor Michael Howard of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to take immediate action to alleviate the severe overcrowding of patients in Ennis General Hospital because of acute shortage of beds.

I also received notice from Senator Avril Doyle of the following matter:

The urgent need for a paediatric unit at Wexford General Hospital.

I also received notice from Senator Dan Neville of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to ensure the continuation after 1995 of the post-primary school at Mount Trenchard, Foynes, County Limerick.

Tá fógra agam ón Seanadóir Pól Ó Foighil:

Chun a fhiafraí den Aire Comhshaoil an mbeadh sé sásta leasú caoi a chur i gcrích len a chinntiú nach bhféadfaí cearta vótála a bhaint go héagórach de shaoránach cáilithe i bhfianaise a tharla i gceantar Charna i mbliana nuair a baineadh breis is 200 ainm de liosta na gClár Toghthóirí go mídhleathach.

I also received notice from Senator Shane Ross of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Marine to hold a public inquiry into any proposed infill and housing development at West Pier, Dún Laoghaire.

I also received notice from Senator David Norris of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to immediately make available the £50,000 grant already sanctioned by Dublin Corporation for the rebuilding of the Hirschfeld Centre.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Jackman, Howard, Doyle, Neville, Ó Foighil and Ross as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Jackman's matter and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Howard, Doyle, Neville, Ó Foighil and Ross may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.

I regret I have to rule the matter raised by Senator Norris as not suitable for discussion on the Adjournment on the grounds of repetition.
