Business of Seanad.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

I have notice from Senator Howard that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to take immediate action to alleviate the severe overcrowding of patients in Ennis General Hospital because of acute shortage of beds.

I also received notice from Senator Neville of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to ensure the continuation after 1995 of the post primary school at Mount Trenchard, Foynes, County Limerick.

I also received notice from Senator Doyle of the following matter:

The urgent need for a paediatric unit at Wexford General Hospital.

I also received notice from Senator O'Keeffe of the following matter:

The present state of negotiations on the sale of Irish Steel and in the event of international interest having dissipated the proposals he has for the long term viability of the plant.

I also received notice from Senator Cosgrave of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice to increase support to the Irish Victims Support Group and other related victim support services.

I also received notice from Senator Ross of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Marine to hold a public inquiry into any proposed infill and housing development at West Pier, Dún Laoghaire.

I also received notice from Senator Jackman of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture and Food to outline the strategy of future funding arrangements for integrated rural development, in particular the Slievefelim pilot programme in the Tipperary-Limerick area.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Howard, Neville, Doyle, O'Keeffe, Cosgrave, Ross and Jackman as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Howard's matter and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Neville, Doyle, O'Keeffe, Cosgrave, Ross and Jackman may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
