I regret to have to interrupt Senator Murphy but I have notice of a motion under Standing Order 29 from Senator Norris. Senator Norris, it is required of you that you give notice of your motion and you should not elaborate or make a speech.
Request under Standing Order 29.
I wish to move a motion for the Adjournment of the Seanad on a specific and important matter of public interest requiring urgent consideration, the matter being the need for the Minister for Labour to intervene personally in the ESB dispute.
I thank the Senator. I have given careful consideration to the matter raised by Senator Norris and I cannot consider it to be a matter contemplated by Standing Orders. I regret, therefore, to have to rule it out of order.
What a surprise.
