Vol. 129 No. 13

Business of Seanad.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

I have notice from Senator Ross that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to explain the reason for the delay in the payment of subventions from the Eastern Health Board to nursing homes.

I also received notice from Senator Hederman of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to proceed with the cycleway around St. Stephen's Green as prepared by Dublin Corporation in 1980 and as discussed with the Office of Public Works at a meeting on 21 April 1983.

I also received notice from Senator B. Ryan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Social Welfare to discontinue the requirement that all travellers not living in permanent housing must sign on at labour exchanges at 11.30 a.m. on Thursdays.

I also received notice from Senator Jackman of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Labour to provide financial assistance to the Abbington Enterprise from FÁS special projects funds so that the project development officer can continue his project work as a paid employee rather than in a voluntary capacity as at present.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Ross, Hederman and Ryan as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Ross's matter and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Hederman and Ryan may give notice another day of the matter they wish to raise.

I regret I have had to rule the matter raised by Senator Jackman as not suitable for discussion on the Adjournment on the grounds of lack of ministerial responsibility.
