Vol. 131 No. 16

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Raftery that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture and Food to take effective steps to prevent the immediate closure of United Meat Packers.

I also received notice from Senator Ross of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to extend the coal ban to Bray town and its environs.

I also received notice from Senator Costello of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice to outline the reason for the refusal, by the Attorney General, of legal aid to a prisoner (details supplied) in Portlaoise Prison; and the non-implementation of the Martin report recommendation regarding a Court of Appeal.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Raftery, Ross and Costello as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Raftery's matter and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Ross and Costello may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
