Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Enright that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to sanction the building of a new 50 bed hospital unit at Edenderry, County Offaly.

I have also received notice from Senator McGowan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Tourism and Trade to consider the role of Bord Fáilte and the regional tourist offices after the enterprise boards are set up.

I have also received notice from Senator Neville of the following matter.

The need for the Minister for Education to ensure that the Stella Maris School in Foynes, County Limerick, continues as a second level institution after 1995 in view of the withdrawal of the religious community and the decision not to accept first year students from September 1993.

I have also received notice from Senator Fahey of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Social Welfare to amend the social welfare regulations so that a self-employed person over 55 years of age, who has been making PRSI contributions since 1988, would become entitled to a contributory pension or, alternatively, would be credited with the contributions he has made.

I have also received notice from Senator Kelleher of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to provide a secondary school in the Glanmire-Riverstown area of Cork.

I have also received notice from Senator Taylor-Quinn of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs to outline the position of the Tibetan people under Chinese jurisdiction; and the action the Government intends taking in relation to the situation.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Enright, McGowan, Neville, Fahey, Kelleher and Taylor-Quinn as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senators Enright's and McGowan's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Neville, Fahey, Kelleher and Taylor-Quinn may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
