Vol. 139 No. 7

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Kelly that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to provide funding for the scheme for social housing in Dromcolliher, County Limerick, which is currently with his Department.

I have also received notice from Senator Roche of the following matter:

In light of the serious state of affairs which now exists in Clonmannon Retirement Village, Ashford, County Wicklow, due to the disconnection of the electricity supply, the need for the Minister for Enterprise and Employment to immediately appoint either a designated official, inspector or examiner to investigate the affairs of the Care Company currently operating the village.

I have also received notice from Senator Taylor-Quinn of the following matter:

The enforced closure of the Ennis-Limerick railway line for the past four weeks due to flooding, the enormous inconvenience being caused to the public, and the damage to the development of Ennis railway station resulting from the line closure.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Kelly and Roche as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. I regret that I have had to rule the matter raised by Senator Taylor-Quinn as not suitable for discussion on the Adjournment on the grounds of lack of ministerial responsibility.
