Seanad Éireann díospóireacht -
Tuesday, 8 Mar 1994

Vol. 139 No. 11

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Neville that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to sanction and provide funding for the alteration of dormitory accommodation to classrooms at the Salesian second level school at Pallaskenry, County Limerick.

I have also received notice from Senator O'Toole of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education, in light of the situation in St. Michael's Assessment Unit, Finglas Children's Centre, where the assessment process has been undermined because the number of boys remanded in custody or sentenced has increased dramatically, to ensure the separation of those remanded for assessment from those remanded in custody or sentenced, and thereby maintain the presence of the De La Salle Brothers who have offered their resignation because of the gravity of the position.

I have also received notice from Senator Taylor-Quinn of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to grant aid for rewiring and replacement of existing electrical equipment at the Holy Family School Hall, Convent of Mercy, Ennis, County Clare, in order to bring them up to proper safety standards.

I have also received notice from Senator Fahey of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to include a drainage programme to alleviate flooding in the south Galway area in the Estimates for 1994.

I regard the matters raised as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Neville's and Senator O'Toole's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Taylor-Quinn and Senator Fahey may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
