A number of Senators have indicated that they wish to make a reference to the sad events in Galway and Clare over the last week. I must remind the House that there is a real possibility of serious criminal charges being brought. Under the rules of the House there is an onus on Members to avoid comment which might prejudice the outcome of proceedings. Accordingly, Members should exercise discretion in their contributions and, if possible, should avoid making reference to persons outside the House by name or so as to be identifiable.
