Vol. 140 No. 20

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator O'Sullivan that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

In view of the obligations under the Wildlife Act, 1976, to conserve wildlife, the need for the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht to consider the provision of funding for the reintroduction of game and habitat development grants.

I have also received notice from Senator Naughten of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to provide adequate funding to health boards to meet their commitments under the Health Nursing Home Act, 1990, and to treat this scheme as a demand led scheme.

I have also received notice from Senator Neville of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs to support Resolution 47/19 of the United Nations General Assembly, entitled, "Necessity of Ending Economic, Commercial and Financial Embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba".

I have also received notice from Senator Cotter of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to take note of the difficulties facing both the settled population and itinerant families because of the poor conditions at the halting site outside Castleblayney, County Monaghan and the danger of a complete breakdown of inter-community relationships.

I have also received notice from Senator Taylor-Quinn of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications to outline his attitude to Aeroflot's application for pick up rights at Shannon to New York and Boston.

I have also received notice from Senator Rory Kiely of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Social Welfare to consider the introduction of alternative methods of transporting money for social welfare payments.

I regard the matters raised by Senators O'Sullivan and Naughten as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Neville, Cotter, Taylor-Quinn and Rory Kiely may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
