Vol. 141 No. 3

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Cotter that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise and Employment to take note of the decision by Cement Road-stone Limited to cease operations at the Castleblayney plant as and from 30 November, a decision which will have serious consequences for the local economy; and the need for the Minister to initiate discussions with the company to see if the plant can be saved or at least kept open for an extended period to give the Minister time to replace the job losses in Castleblayney.

I have also received notice from Senator Ross of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications to urgently clarify the situation regarding the extension of the DART system to Greystones.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken at the conclusion of business.
