Vol. 143 No. 9

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator O'Toole that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to guarantee that class size in a school is not worsened following the transfer of pupils with special needs on a temporary or permanent basis to a special unit, class or school as it is currently being threatened in Inch national school in County Tipperary.

I also received notice from Senator Maloney of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to appoint a remedial teacher to Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál, Lifford, County Donegal.

I also received notice from Senator Rory Kiely of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise and Employment to provide assistance to the Neodata plant in County Limerick in order to save the recently announced job losses.

I also received notice from Senator Cosgrave of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice to establish a task force to tackle the increasing wave of crime as outlined in the recent survey carried out by RGDATA.

I also received notice from Senator Byrne of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry to review the operation of the European Communities (Fees for Health Inspection and Control of Fresh Meat) Regulations, 1995, in view of the impact and cost of the regulations on local authorities and abattoir operators.

I regard the matter raised as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senators O'Toole's and Senator Maloney's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
