Vol. 148 No. 11

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Enright that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to outline her proposals for the implementation and recommendations in the Price Waterhouse report; to improve the setting, running and checking of the leaving certificate examination and to ensure particular safeguards in regard to safety aspects of examination papers and materials attached thereto.

I have also received notice from Senator Roche of the following matter:

The grave concern felt in the House that the matters raised by the Chief State Pathologist be resolved at the earliest possible date.

I have also received notice from Senator Cosgrave of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to increase funding to the National Safety Council in order that more intensive water safety publicity campaigns can be launched this year and to ensure that all safety equipment is examined and well maintained.

I regard the matters raised by Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Enright's and Senator Roche's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Cosgrave may give notice on another day of the matter he wishes to raise.
