Vol. 156 No. 12

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Gallagher that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Public Enterprise to take all possible measures to ensure that the threatened closure of Ferbane power station in County Offaly is averted and the promised £16 million investment in the plant proceeds.

I have also received notice from Senator Jackman of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to carry out an immediate prevalence of ADHD in Ireland so that the serious situation of ADHD sufferers can be addressed.

I have also received notice from Senator Avril Doyle of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture and Food to address the concerns of members of the Milk Rights Group in getting full compensation for losses arising from the failure of the Minister to recognise their quota rights in line with their farm modernisation plans.

I have also received notice from Senator Costello of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to outline the reasons the Government has failed to seek Objective One status EU Structural Funding for blighted communities in Dublin and other urban areas for the period 2000 to 2006.

I have also received notice from Senator Caffrey of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to outline the reasons the Auto Turning Centre in Ballina, which was announced six months ago, does not now appear to be going ahead.

I regard the matters raised by Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senators Gallagher and Jackman's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Doyle, Costello and Caffrey may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.

Before I call the Leader of the House on the Order of Business, I understand he wishes to pay tribute to former Members of the House who died recently.
