Vol. 158 No. 5

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator O'Meara that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to investigate the risk to public health from the air and water pollution at the Tailings Pond at Gortmore, Nenagh, County Tipperary.

I have also received notice from Senator Jackman of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to provide a person (details supplied) who has been running a facility for dyslexic children in Limerick city with accommodation in a new secondary school in Limerick, as the existing facilities are totally inadequate.

I have also received notice from Senator Costello of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Arts, Heritage, the Gaeltacht and the Islands to keep open the Spa Road in the Phoenix Park for pedestrian use.

I have also received notice from Senator Gallagher of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment and Local Government to provide funding to upgrade the R402 Edenderry-Enfield Road in view of the economic importance of this road to north Offaly.

I have also received notice from Senator Tom Hayes of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment and Local Government to provide special funding to South Tipperary County Council for the repair and maintenance of the county roads in view of recent severe bad weather which has caused the county road to deteriorate considerably.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senator O'Meara and Senator Jackman and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
