Vol. 162 No. 16

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator O'Meara that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to clarify if the Office of Public Works intends to vacate the depot at the military barracks, Summerhill, Nenagh and if so, to outline the reasons and when it will take place.

I have also received notice from Senator Quill of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands to address the issue of the future preservation and protection by the State of the 700-acre Mount Congreve Estate, Waterford, which has one of the world's larger and more important collections of rare trees and shrubs.

I have also received notice from Senator Ridge of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs to address the discrimination against twins by equalising the monthly child benefit for twins with those of other multiple births.

I have also received notice from Senator Tom Hayes of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to explain the reasons why the school bus which takes students to Cappawhite national school will not collect children in the Philipstown area of County Tipperary.

I have also received noticed from Senator Costello of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Defence to provide accommodation for the Phoenix youth project in St. Bricin's Hospital, accessing directly from O'Devaney Gardens.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators O'Meara and Quill and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
