Vol. 162 No. 19

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Costello that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Defence to provide accommodation for the Phoenix youth project in St. Bricin's Hospital accessing directly from O'Devaney Gardens.

I have also received notice from Senator Tom Hayes of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to increase the number of gardaí in Tipperary town Garda station.

I have also received notice from Senator O'Meara of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to clarify when the social economy programmes will be initiated, how the programmes will operate in practice and the implications these programmes will have for the numbers engaged in the community employment schemes.

I have also received notice from Senator Chambers of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to provide the necessary resources for the provision of a reasonable banking service in the Border, midland and western regions.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Costello, Hayes and O'Meara as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Costello's and Hayes's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator O'Meara may give notice on another day of the matter she wishes to raise. I regret that I have to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator Chambers as the Minister has no official responsibility in this matter.
