Vol. 164 No. 2

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Taylor-Quinn that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to examine the implications of the Government's decision to abandon the decentralisation programme, the effects of such a decision on applicant towns such as Kilrush and Ennis and the fallout on local communities currently planning for a transfer of Government offices to their area.

I also received notice from Senator Ross of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to modernise the General Register Office for births, deaths and marriages in Dublin and make it more user friendly.

I also received notice from Senator Costello of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to ensure that St. Joseph's School for the Deaf, Cabra, Dublin 7, has a speech and language therapist.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Taylor-Quinn's and Senator Ross's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Costello may give notice on another day of the matter he wishes to raise.
