Vol. 166 No. 5

Business of Seanad.

I have received notice from Senator Henry that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to create a legal framework to protect privacy of genetic information and to prohibit its use for insurance purposes.

I have also received notice from Senator Ó Fearghail of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to provide additional teaching hours for special needs students at St. Anne's school, The Curragh, County Kildare.

I have also received notice from Senator O'Meara of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to provide additional funding to the Mid-Western Health Board for the establishment of a general practitioners co-operative in the north Tipperary area, which cannot be initiated until further funding is allocated.

I have also received notice from Senator Manning of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to outline what steps he proposes to take to ensure the speedy availability of Acts of the Oireachtas and other official documents in the Irish language in view of the recent Supreme Court decision in the O'Beolain case and the strong criticism of the Government in that decision.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and I have selected Senator Henry's and Senator Ó Fearghail's matters. They will be taken at the conclusion of business.

Senator O'Meara and Senator Manning may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
