Vol. 168 No. 6

Business of Seanad.

I have received notice from Senator Glynn that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment and Local Government to approve the application of Westmeath County Council for an extension to the Killucan-Rathwire and Rochford Bridge sewerage schemes.

I have also received notice from Senator Finneran of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to sanction as a matter of urgency the provision of extra accommodation and the appointment of an extra teacher at Fuerty national school, Roscommon.

I have received also notice from Senator Henry of the following matter:

In view of the high incidence of breast cancer in Ireland and the extensive work done on the genetics of breast cancer here, the need for the Minister for Health and Children to support immediately the actions taken by the French and Swiss health departments and the genetic societies of Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and the United Kingdom against the granting of patent EP0699754 B1 to Myriad Genetics, Salt Lake City, USA, which is a serious threat to genetic testing for breast cancer in this country.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken at the conclusion of business.
