Vol. 168 No. 11

Business of Seanad.

I have received notice from Senator Cosgrave that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to review the temporary release procedures operating in our prison system, particularly in light of recent concerns where prisoners convicted of extremely serious crimes have been given frequent temporary releases.

I have also received notice from Senator Costello that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to ensure there are sufficient orthodontists working in the public health sector and if he will explain why the only choice facing the parents of a young girl (details supplied) who is in urgent need of orthodontic treatment is to pay £3,000 for private treatment.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken at the conclusion of business.
