Vol. 169 No. 9

Business of Seanad.

I have received notice from Senator Henry that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to explain why he has deregulated the retail pharmaceutical trade before his appointed committee on the topic has made its report to him.

I have also received notice from Senator Cosgrave of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment and Local Government to outline the changes he proposes in relation to the running of elections, with particular regard to nomination procedures and wheelchair access to polling stations; the arrangements being put in place in relation to electronic voting, including a backup system in case of technical difficulties; and the need for him to make a statement on the matter.

I have also received notice from Senator Taylor-Quinn of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to outline the background to the recent decision taken by his Department to provide an extension to St. Joseph's secondary school, Tulla, County Clare, rather than a new school on a greenfield site.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken at the conclusion of business.
