Vol. 177 No. 3

Business of Seanad.

I have received notice from Senator Ulick Burke that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to indicate his willingness to upgrade Portiuncula Hospital to the status of general hospital, utilising the funds from the sale by the Western Health Board of property at St. Brigid's Hospital, Ballinasloe.

I have also received notice from Senator Bannon of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to clarify the position with regard to the imposition of DIRT on interest accruing on compensatory awards held and invested by the courts on behalf of minors; and the measures to be put in place to enable these children, who are below the tax threshold, to claim a refund of such tax.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken at the conclusion of business.
