Business of Seanad.

I have received notice from Senator Phil Prendergast that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to clarify her rationale for the decision to remove the 49 acute psychiatric beds contained in St. Michael's unit, Clonmel and the transfer of this service to Kilkenny.

I have also received notice from Senator Feargal Quinn of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, in view of the state of the National Archives which is causing concern, not only among historians, genealogists and journalists but also among the public at large, to clarify the plans for solving the problem through proposed legislation.

I have also received notice from Senator Denis O'Donovan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to provide emergency funding in order that remedial works can be carried out in Skibbereen, County Cork to alleviate or eliminate further flooding and damage to business premises and homes.

I have also received notice from Senator Fidelma Healy Eames of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism to outline the Government's range of commitments, including financial support, to enable Galway to win the Volvo Ocean Race for 2012.

I have also received notice from Senator Pearse Doherty of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to give Scoil Chonaill Naofa in Bunbeg, County Donegal approval to go to tender and construction and to treat this application with urgency.

I have also received notice from Senator Jerry Buttimer of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to make a statement on head shops and the need to impose strict regulation because of the dangers of the products they sell.

I have also received notice from Senator Brian Ó Domhnaill of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to provide approval to go to tender for Scoil Chonaill Naofa, County Donegal.

I have also received notice from Senator Nicky McFadden of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to appoint a single agency to co-ordinate flood risk activities which would be responsible for managing and maintaining the River Shannon and its tributaries.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Prendergast, Quinn and O'Donovan and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
