Vol. 297 No. 11

Gnó an tSeanaid - Business of Seanad

I have received notice from the following Senators that they propose to raise the following matters:

Senator Martin Conway - The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on the need for a national diabetes register.

Senator Marie Sherlock - The need for the Minister for Environment, Climate and Communications to make a statement on Ireland's recycling levels and the Environmental Protection Agency's forecast that Ireland will miss its targets under its EU obligations; and his plans to introduce legislative changes to re-municipalise waste collection systems within local authority areas.

Senator Pauline O'Reilly - The need for the Minister for Education to make a statement on the school transport scheme and, in particular, the suspension of the school bus to Galway Educate Together National School.

Senator John Cummins - The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on the process and timeline for the extension of primary percutaneous coronary intervention cardiac services at University Hospital Waterford, and any impact the recruitment embargo may have on the service expansion.

Senator Tim Lombard - The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to provide an update on the proposed affordable housing scheme for Kinsale, including timelines for completion of the scheme.

The matters raised by the Senators are suitable for discussion and I have selected Senators Conway, Sherlock, O'Reilly and Cummins and they will be taken now. Senator Lombard may give notice on another day of the matter he wishes to raise.
