Amendments Nos. 1 to 3, inclusive, are related and may be discussed together.
Welfare of Greyhounds Bill 2011: Committee Stage
I move amendment No. 1:
In page 23, subsection (1)(a), line 34, to delete “or”.
I am proposing three minor and related changes to section 25. First, the amendments propose to delete the word "or" from between subsections 25(1)(a) and 25(1)(b) and to insert same between subsections 25(1)(b) and 25(1)(c). In addition, the word “or” is to be inserted between subsections 25(1)(b)(i) and 25(1)(b)(ii). Subsection 25(1) sets out three ways in which a person may be guilty of the offence of obstruction. During the drafting of the Bill two types of obstruction offences were initially envisaged and, as such, the word “or” was placed between subsections 25(1)(a) and 25(1)(b). At a later point, however, a third type of obstruction was included in subsection 25(1)(c). The omission of the word “or” between subsections (b) and (c) was noted only after publication. I trust members will be agreeable to this minor change.
I move amendment No. 2:
In page 23, subsection (1)(b)(i), line 38, to delete “(9),” and substitute “(9), or”.
I move amendment No. 3:
In page 23, subsection (1), between lines 40 and 41, to insert the following:
"or".
