The purpose of today's meeting is to consider Committee Stage of the Teaching Council Bill, 2000, which was referred to the Select Committee by the Dáil on 15 December 2000. We propose to adjourn today's meeting at 7.15 p.m. Is that agreed? Agreed. I welcome the Minister of State at the Department of Education and Science, Deputy O'Dea, and his officials. I also welcome Deputy Creed to our meeting and congratulate him on his appointment as Fine Gael spokesperson on education.
