SECTION 57.

Question proposed: "That section 57 stand part of the Bill."

What would the status and difference be between an inspector appointed by the court and an authorised officer appointed by the Central Bank?

Whether an inspector or an authorised officer is chosen is decided in relation to the gravity, nature and scope of the offence. Their powers are the same in terms of their investigative rights. The major difference is in view of the fact that it is the High Court which appoints the inspector in relation to suspected grave offences, in that kind of a situation you are talking about the power to compel people under oath, which would not apply to an authorised officer.

Question put and agreed to.
Sections 58 and 59 agreed to.
