Message to Dáil.

In accordance with Standing Order 85, the following message will be sent to the Dáil:

The Select Committee on Finance and the Public Service has completed its consideration of the Central Bank and Financial Services Authority of Ireland Bill 2002 and has made amendments thereto.

I thank the Minister and his officials for attending the meeting today.

I thank members for their support and co-operation in dealing with this long, difficult and tedious Bill. It was a major tome and dealing with 270 amendments was a record, even for the Department of Finance. I thank Opposition spokespersons, in particular DeputyRichard Bruton, for their co-operation.

The select committee adjourned at 8.15 p.m. until 12 noon on Tuesday, 25 February 2003.
