Special Committee Companies Bill, 1962 díospóireacht -
Tuesday, 2 Apr 1963

SECTION 233.

Question proposed : "That Section 233 stand part of the Bill."

It is much the same as Section 106 of the old Act.

There is no substantial alteration.

I should like to be assured that there is no provision authorising payment of any remuneration or expenses to the members of the committee.

No, we do not provide for it in the Bill.

It might be an incentive. I should like to have that carefully examined.

The members of the committee are acting in their own interests.

There should normally be substantial creditors.

When they are acting in their own interests, they do not expect to get paid.

There is no power in the Bill, at any rate, to pay them expenses. If they got expenses, they could dissipate the assets of the company.

Question put and agreed to.
