At the end of the last business meeting of this Committee which took place on the 11th May we had a certain misunderstanding. We had subsequent meetings on the 13th May and on the 20th May neither of which was attended by the Opposition because they were not satisfied with the proceedings of the meeting of the 11th May. I am glad to be able to say that these difficulties or misunderstandings have been resolved. However, some Members of the Committee as originally constituted are not available and as the difficulties to which I referred have been resolved very recently, I think it would not be reasonable to proceed to deal with the Bill in Committee this evening, and I suggest that we adjourn the Committee until this day fortnight, 15th June, on the understanding that we proceed with the Committee Stage of the Bill on that date.

We are happy that we are talking again. The dissatisfaction of the 11th May arose from our concern that we should all be familiar with and adhere to the Standing Orders governing committees of this nature. I understand that the Minister is as concerned as I that adherence to these Standing Orders should obtain in the future. There is no point or great merit in rehashing what happened on the 11th. We look forward to discussing section 7 on the 15th of June when we meet for that purpose.
