277 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Finance if he will allocate funds in 2004 under the arterial drainage scheme to alleviate flooding at Piltown County Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3041/04]
Amharc ar fhreagraIt is no longer Government policy to carry out arterial drainage schemes. At the request of Kilkenny County Council, the OPW has agreed to carry out a pre-feasibility study to assess the potential for localised flood relief works in Piltown. No decision can be taken on further action until the results of this study are available. The study will commence later this year and is expected to be completed by mid-2005.
