180 Mr. N. O’Keeffe asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if his attention has been drawn to the difficulties being placed on certain persons under a Bill (details supplied); and if he intends to make an amendment to this section. [10977/04]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Electoral (Amendment) Act 2002 provides that a non-party candidate at a local election must have his or her nomination paper assented to by 15 persons registered in the register of electors for the area. The form is left in a local authority office for the assentors to sign and who must produce a specified photographic identification document. Details will be included in the notes to the nomination form. There are no proposals to amend the legislation.
