137 Mr. Sherlock asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of outstanding applications for medical cards in the Southern Health Board area; and the number of successful applicants there are as a percentage of those that have applied within the past 12 months; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Responsibility for the provision of medical cards is, by legislation, a matter for the chief executive officer of the relevant health board or authority. Accordingly, this question has been referred to the chief executive officer of the Southern Health Board for investigation and direct reply to the Deputy.
