177 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if an operation will be expedited at Kilcreene Hospital, Kilkenny for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; the reason the operation was deferred for six months in view of the urgency of the case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Responsibility for the provision of services at Kilcreene Hospital is, in the first instance, a matter for the South Eastern Health Board. My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the South Eastern Health Board to investigate the matter and reply directly to the Deputy.
