571 Mr. O’Shea asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if he will make it compulsory for county registrars to notify candidates for local elections in writing at least seven working days prior to these elections that the names of persons to act as personation agents should be with the county registrar not less than two days before the elections. Amharc ar fhreagraUnder the Local Elections Regulations 1995, a candidate at a local election shall, not later than two days, disregarding any excluded day, before polling day, give written notice to the returning officer of the name and address of every personation agent appointed by the candidate together with the name of the polling station for which the personation agent is appointed. While I am satisfied that these long-standing arrangements operate effectively, I will keep them under review.
