85 Mr. Sherlock asked the Minister for Health and Children the position regarding his discussions with the Irish Hospital Consultants Association regarding the proposed new system of medical insurance; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18386/04]
Amharc ar fhreagraIntensive efforts are continuing to resolve the issue of who should take responsibility for claims that result from events which occurred before the establishment of the clinical indemnity scheme. This is the issue which is of greatest concern to consultants arising from the introduction of the new indemnity arrangements. The Irish Hospital Consultants Association and the Irish Medical Organisation are kept informed of progress on a regular basis.
