737 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if an appeal will be expedited for a medical card in the name of a person (details supplied) in County Carlow; if the medical circumstances of the family will be considered; if the card will be issued without further delay; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Responsibility for the provision of a medical card is, by legislation, a matter for the chief executive officer of the relevant health board/authority. My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the South Eastern Health Board to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and to reply to him directly.
