1134 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the procedures in place or he intends to put in place to deal with citizens from China, Malaysia and other countries who have committed serious crimes here and then return to these countries with which Ireland has no extradition agreement; and if he will make a statement on the matter. While there are no specific bilateral extradition agreements in place between Ireland and a number of countries, including China and Malaysia, arrangements are in place for the extradition of persons between Ireland and these countries. The arrangements arise under a number of international agreements to which Ireland and the countries are party and cover offences such as aircraft hijacking and drug trafficking. Extradition arrangements between Ireland and other states are kept under review.
