Aengus Ó Snodaigh

Ceist:

406 Aengus Ó Snodaigh asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to any other cases either past or pending apart from that of a person (details supplied) by former prisoners against the State due to the use of solitary confinement as a form of punishment within the State’s prisons. The Irish Prison Service does not use solitary confinement, although there is provision in the prison rules for the use of close confinement. I am not aware of any such other claims by former prisoners.
