Amharc ar fhreagraI understand that a number of local authorities have used their general by-law making powers under the local government code to prohibit the consumption of alcohol in public parks and open spaces. It may be, however, that significant further extension of this type of regulatory control should best be addressed in the context of public order legislation which is the responsibility of my colleague, the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform. My Department has raised this issue with that Department.
