178 Mr. O’Shea asked the Minister for Transport if any provision has been made in the 2005 Estimates for his Department for the cost of implementing the provisions of the Official Languages Act 2003; the amount of any such provision; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30797/04]
Amharc ar fhreagraWhile no specific provision has been made in the 2005 Estimates for my Department for the cost of implementing the provisions of the Official Languages Act 2003, I am satisfied there is sufficient flexibility within my Department's Vote to cover any such costs which may arise.

Amharc ar fhreagraAs the Deputy is aware, the Department of Transport was established on 6 June 2002. The figures below relate as far as possible to the functions now performed by the Department. On this basis, the approximate amount spent by my Department since 2000 on Irish language training and translations is set out in the following table.
