111 Mr. Hogan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children the number of health boards which have appointed a case officer to deal with elder abuse; the number of case officers that deal with elder abuse in each health board; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [31806/04]
Amharc ar fhreagraMy Department made funding of €75o,000 available to the health boards this year for the continued implementation of the report of the working group on elder abuse, including the employment of a case officer. A variety of arrangements are in place to address this need but two health boards have appointed a case officer to deal with elder abuse. Other boards have not progressed matters to the same extent for various reasons, including pressure on their employment ceilings and other competing priorities for available posts.
