179 Mr. Lowry asked the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism the progress that has been made to date on the proposed arts centre for Thurles, County Tipperary; if the necessary resources have been committed to this project; when the project will be sanctioned to go to tender; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Since 1997 my Department has provided total grant aid of €1.77 million, towards the provision of a cultural, entertainment, and interpretative centre in Tipperary town and this facility is now in operation. There is no application for additional capital grant aid for this centre currently under consideration in my Department.
